New Public Member
CPSO is pleased to welcome Normand Allaire from Whitby to the Council table as a new public member.
For more than 20 years, Mr. Allaire was the President and CEO of the Runnymede Health Care Centre in Toronto. He led the organization from 1984 to 2005. After leaving the Centre, he sat as Citizenship Judge for the Canadian government. In this capacity, he conducted hearings of more than 35,000 Canadian citizen applications in several provinces, in both French and English. He completed his six-year term in 2012.
Mr. Allaire also sits on the Bereavement Authority of Ontario and was reappointed for a second three-year term in November 2022. This is a government delegated authority administering provisions of the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002 on behalf of the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery.
Mr. Allaire holds a Master of Health Science and Administration degree from the University of Toronto. He is also a board-certified hospital executive and a Life Fellow of the Canadian College of Health Leaders and the American College of Health Care Executives.
New Academic Member
CPSO is pleased to welcome Dr. Marie-Pierre Carpentier to Council as the academic representative from the University of Ottawa.
Dr. Carpentier is an emergency medicine physician at Montfort Hospital in Ottawa. Since 2010, she’s been an Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine, University of Ottawa.
Over the last several years, Dr. Carpentier has also worked as a peer assessor in emergency medicine for the College.
She graduated from the University of Sherbrooke medical school and completed her residency training in Family Medicine from the University of Montreal in 1999. She then completed a one-year Fellowship in Emergency Medicine at McGill University.
Dr. Carpentier replaces Dr. Paul Hendry as the University of Ottawa’s academic representative. Dr. Hendry sat on Council for five years.
