Highlights of the June Meeting of Council
Decisions Made by Council
Are you on a Team or in a Group?
“If you have a sense of shared goals, that’s a team. If everyone knows everyone else’s superpower, that’s a team. A really good way to tell are the idea meetings. If you dread them because they’re where ideas go to die, that’s a group. If you look forward to them because your ideas get bigger and better, that’s a team.”

The Registrar/CEO Report
Dr. Nancy Whitmore reported on the following:
We made 531 courtesy calls to physicians in the first five months of year — these calls flag a non-clinical, low-level concern brought to our attention by patients.
We received 8,187 calls to the Patient and Public Help Centre in the first five months of 2022. One-hundred percent of cases were handled within one business day.
As of spring 2022, 53 percent of cases are being addressed through early resolution as compared to 16 percent four years ago.
The Ontario Physicians and Surgeons Discipline Tribunal continues to improve the length of time to release decisions. In 2020, it took 12.5 weeks, on average, to release a decision. In June 2022, we had reduced the time to 6.8 weeks on average.
Continue to keep to timelines to assess regular and expedited registration applications, even during highest registration activity of CPSO calendar year. This is the result of new automated infrastructure.
The benchmark for regular application is 15 days and we are processing them within 13 days. The benchmark for an expedited application is five days and we are processing them within four days.
