Board Highlights – June 2026 

Policy Update  

• Targeted amendments approved to:  
  • Prescribing Drugs
  • Delegation of Controlled Acts
• Major redesign to CPSO’s policy framework coming this fall 

Registration

• Three draft policies approved for circulation:  
  • Exemption from the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination for Canadian-trained physicians
  • Provisional Certificate for Physicians Certified in Approved Jurisdictions for internationally-trained physicians who lack certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
  • Specialist Recognition Criteria in Ontario to clarify and streamline registration-based eligibility pathways  

Accreditation

• Out of a target of 70 OHPs, over 55 (represented by 38 OHP Medical Directors) have successfully completed the Quality Improvement for OHP Medical Directors Program 

Investigations

• Despite high volume of new matters:  
  • Continuing to meet KPI of completing complaints (both public complaints and Registrar’s Investigations) within 150 days (80th percentile) 

Governance  

• Concluded second province-wide Board Director election
