CPSO’s Board of Directors has rescinded the Cannabis for Medical Purposes policy.
When the policy was first approved in 2002, cannabis for medical purposes was governed by the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and legal access to cannabis for medical purposes could only be provided through authorization. Since that time, the legal landscape has changed, and cannabis can now be obtained legally without an authorization. Given this context, the policy was no longer required to guide appropriate physician practice and has been rescinded.
