On behalf of the Board of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, I warmly welcome and congratulate the five newly elected members of our Board of Directors: Dr. Baraa Achtar, Dr. Marie-Pierre Carpentier, Dr. Julie Maggi, Dr. Andrea Steen and Dr. James Stewart.
These distinguished individuals will officially begin their terms at the close of the Board’s Annual Organizational Meeting on Friday, November 28. We are grateful for their commitment to serving the public and advancing the mission and values of CPSO. You can learn more about each of them in this edition of Dialogue.
I would also like to extend sincere thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s election. Whether by casting a ballot or standing for nomination, your engagement in the Board election process is fundamental to strong governance. It ensures that our Board composition reflects the skills, competencies and diversity attributes necessary to guide decisions that impact the future direction of our profession and ensure the continued trust of the public in our regulatory processes.
In collaboration with our Governance and Nominating Committee, Governance Team, and CPSO Leadership, we are exploring new strategies to support registrant participation and emphasize the impact of every vote. Evaluating our new province-wide election process is a Key Performance Indicator for this year and we look forward to sharing updates with you in the coming months.
If you have ideas or feedback on how we can foster broad engagement in future elections, we welcome your input at [email protected].
